required information and/or booking details that include the
payment options.
To make a booking
definite, a 50% deposit is required on accommodation and on
dive courses.
The deposit can be
transferred to our bank account or can be paid by paypal.
Is the deposit

No, deposits are

change, not allowing you to start or finish a diving course,
therefore we are very flexible about your starting and
completion date. You can delay the start of your program(s)
up to 6 months, this is no problem, as long as you keep us
informed about your change of plans.
How is the weather
like on the Gili islands, Lombok, Indonesia?
The temperature on
the Gilis ranges between 26 and 34 degrees year round. The
water temperature is around 28-30 degrees.
The rain season
starts around December and ends around February. It can rain
during the day but most of the time during the nights.
Because of the rain, the visibility underwater can drop.
Sometimes the wind keeps us from diving some of the dive
sites but we rarely need to cancel dives.
When do the PADI
diving courses start?
You can start all courses at Oceans 5
Resort starting from PADI Open Water diver level up to
Divemaster
level any day, at your own convenience. It's just the IDC's
(Instructor
Development Courses)
that have set dates, which are listed in our
schedule
on our pro website:
www.indonesia-idc.com
.
What kind of
accommodation and restaurants can I find on Gili Air?
The Gilis have accommodation ranging from
cheap backpacker rooms (8€ per night) up to luxury villas
(250€ per night). Oceans 5 has low budget standard rooms and
mid-class pool bungalows:
www.gili-indonesia.com.
There is a great variety of restaurants ranging from local
warungs (1€ per meal) in the village up to international
standard (12€ per meal) on the beach. The local restaurants
serve beautiful fish and kebabs from the BBQ.
Do I need to book
accommodation?
Yes! The Gilis
have become a very popular holiday destination and although
many new resorts have been build, still it is sometimes very
difficult to find any available rooms.
Especially in
July, August, September, December and January the island
gets busy. Our own bungalows at Oceans 5 Dive resort are
limited and a popular choice.
Do I need to book
my dives?
We start diving
courses every day so you can always walk in at Oceans 5 Dive
resort. Only in the high season we advise to book your
course upfront to guarantee that we have an instructor
available. And of course if you prefer to have an instructor
that speaks your own language, it is best to book your
course before you arrive.
There is also a
10% discount on your diving with Oceans 5 dive resort if you
book online, by email and make a deposit.
How long do the

flexible and length of your course can always be extended if
you want to take it a bit slower.
Can I get discount
on my diving?
All the dive
resorts on the Gilis, including Oceans 5 Resort, work
following a price agreement. So we all charge the same
prices for courses and diving. We give 10% discount on
diving and accommodation when booked online, with a deposit
of 50%.
Groups of 4 divers
or more or people who do 5 dives or more, get an additional
10% discount.
Do I need to be
healthy to dive?
If you have a general good health and
you're reasonably fit, there should be no problem for you to
take up diving. PADI has a general rule that you need a
completely filled out
Medical Statement
before you begin a course (which is a really good policy!).
In Indonesia this statement doesn't need to be verified by a
physician, unless you answer one of these questions with a
'Yes" answer or in order to participate in a
Divemaster
and/or Instructor course (IDC).
In case you are
not 100% sure if you are fit to dive, ask your physician for
a Medical form that declares that you are fit to dive.
Do I need to bring
my own equipment?
No, only if you
want to. We have full sets of equipment in all sizes, even
for children.
Do your tanks have
INT or DIN valves?
All our scuba
tanks have both INT valves and DIN inserts. You don’t need
to bring an adapter.
What else can we
do on the Gilis?
The Gili Islands
are the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The main
tourist activities here are walking around the island,
relaxing in traditional Berugaks or beds on the beach,
reading a book and enjoy the fruit shakes and cocktails.
There is a yoga
centre on the island that gives daily sessions in yoga and
meditation; you can rent a bike to go around the island;
there are snorkelling tours and glass bottom boats that
visit nice shallow reefs and the island hopper brings you
for daytrips to Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan.
It is also very
easy to make a trip to Lombok to see the hot springs, visit
a waterfall or even climb the Rinjani Volcano.
Is there malaria
or Dengue on the island?
Yes, during the
rain season there is a very small risk on Malaria and
Dengue. We get many questions about taking anti-malaria
medicine, but all we can answer is that we personally don’t
use it and never had malaria here. The risk of getting
Dengue is a little bit bigger.
Please make sure
that when you come in the rain season that you protect
yourself with mosquito repellent and make sure your hotel
keeps your room mosquito free.
Is there a good
hospital?
There is a small
clinic on Gili Air with basic medicines.
There are some
good hospitals in Lombok for more serious injuries.
The nearest
hyperbaric chamber is in Bali.
Are there
fastboats going to Gili Air?
Yes, there are
several fastboat companies that take you from Padangbai
harbour in Bali straight to Oceans 5 beach on Gili Air.
