Buildings Oceans 5 dive resort on schedule
Oceans 5 dive resort is building a new restaurant, a family bungalow and 2 standard room since last March.
The building of the standard rooms are almost finsished. Within 1 month is it possible for you to have your holiday at a tropital paradise in one of these rooms. The rooms have AC, WIFI, queensize bed, teras, access to swimming pool.
If you like to have a little bit more luxury, in 2 months the family bungalow will be finished. It is possible to stay with 4 persons in this bungalows, there is a kingsize bed and 2 seperate beds. The bungalow will have AC, hot water, WIFI, access to the pool, pool view and satelite TV.
For all the persons who are hungry or want to have a drink there will be a restaurant to that serves food and drinks.
50 Bar will still be there, this bar is open all day long….
Beach and reef clean up Gili Islands with Oceans 5 dive resort, 25th April
Oceans 5 dive resort organised another Beach and Reef clean up in the Harbor of Gili Air.
The last few week a lot of garbage floated around the Gili Islands. Nobody knows exactly where it comes from but the first thought is it comes from the rivers from Lombok after a heavy rain. A lot of this garbage ended up on the beaches of the Gili Islands or sunk on places where there was no current, like the harbor of Gili Air.
Oceans 5 organised a beach and reef clean up with their staff, steudents and fundivers and collected 6 heavy bags of rubbish. There is still a lot of work to do and if you want to join contact us at info@oceans5dive.com.

Oceans 5 dive resort is creating now a space where people can relax. Around a tree there are 6 hammocks where people can enjoy there time.

Surfing at Gili Air Surf break, Gili Islands
After a few years living on this island the story about the waves became more a fairytale. There were waves but not like the monster waves, 4 meters high, like the locals told us before. It looked like the story become bigger and also the waves with the time.
But today the fairytale became real. The surf break of Gili Air, close the Oceans 5 dive resort and the harbor, had enormous waves. The biggest waves were 3 till 4 meters high. Perfect conditions for all the experienced surfers to show us their tricks.
Lots of locals and tourist were waiting in the water, waiting for their perfect wave, waiting for their perfect run. A few of them were to scared to surf, the waves were to steep and to high. But if they went for a run, it was really excited to see them surf.

Oceans 5 dive resort will offer soon the following extra specialties:
1) sidemount diver
2) project aware shark specialty
3) turtle specialty
But what is sidemount diving?
Diving in sidemount configuration is the process of taking one or two cylinders and placing them on either side of your body, rather than mounting them
on your back, (traditionally known as backmounted). But Sidemount diving is much more than just a change in equipment. In fact, with the right training, you will find it to be a vastly more rewarding.
Sidemount diving is the newest hype under diving. Everyone is cable to do it and it gives you as diver a lot more freedom. Oceans 5 dive resort will let you know when the first course are scheduled.
The other specialties are shark and turtles specialties. More and more people are getting interested in the underwater marine world and they want to know more about it. The Gili islands are an excellent place to meet turtles and sharks underwater. These specialties are made for underwater lovers. Oceans 5 has her own marine biologist in the house and helps to release turtles which were injured, walked the wrong way, or just get brought to the dive shop.

In the next week the big boat “Renje” will be out of the water. Oceans 5 dive resort wants to be ready for the upcomming dive high season.
Padi instructor development course (IDC) Gili Islands, Lombok, Indonesia
Oceans 5 dive resort starts the 18th of May another Padi instructor development course (IDC). Our course director is the Padi Platinum course director, Camille Lemmens.
The IDC starts with a 3 days preparation and will be followed by a 8 day IDC course. The Padi Instructor Examination will be held on the Gili Islands.
There are possibilities to improve your dive knowledge by doing a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) prep. Here you will do 5 instructor specialties, which you can teach straight away when you are in teaching status.

Beach and Reef clean up with Oceans 5 dive resort at Gili Islands
After a few clean ups the result is almost there. There is less and less rubbish in the front of Oceans 5 dive resort, and the more and more fish life is comming back. Special marine life what is been spotted during the clean up, 4 kind of Seahorses and Ornate Ghost Pipefish.
