Testimonials: John, OSWI, IDC April 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia

Due to odd circumstances, I had the privilege to attend not one, but two IDC’s with Camille. Needless to say they were both amazing learning experiences. Camille’s attention to detail and strict but flexible teaching style meant only the best experience and made the IE a breeze.

His ability to teach in numerous languages makes understanding for multi-lingual classes easy and his experience means he can relate any information to you personally so that you have no trouble with the tricky bits.

Needless to say, if i were asked where to do an IDC i would send the person asking straight to Camille.

Thanks for a great time and making a scruffy kid like me a competent instructor, Camille!

Oceans 5 dive organizes another Reef clean up

It was Wednesday yesterday. Time for our weekly reef and beach clean up!

This time all the Padi instructor development (IDC) candidates, all our divemaster trainees, fundivers and staff were joining the clean up.

The clean up started at 16.00. Everyone was prepareing his/her equipment and all went in the water in front of Oceans 5 dive resort. The clean up dives takes maximum 60 minutes. But after 10 minutes the first divers came at shore with bags full of rubbish.

The end result was 10 bags full of plastic, cans, ropes etc….

Oceans 5 likes to thank everyone who joined the clean up. Lets make the world a little bit better and dont forget fish dont like plastic!

Padi instructor development course (IDC) at Oceans 5 dive Gili Air almost finished!

Diving around the Gili islands is fantastic. There are always turtles around, the clownsfish always wants to play with you, and the water is cristal blue.

Many people started diving there and become so addicted that they wanted to live the life style of a dive instructor. They like the athmosphere on the islands, being relax, no cars, no motorbikes and no dogs. And in the evening enough bars and restaurants to have a nice time.

At this moment Oceans 5 dive resort has 7 people who are following their dream to become a Padi dive instructor and hopefully work on the Gili Islands.

The instructor development course (IDC) at Oceans 5 dive resort is almost over. There are 3 days to go and after then there will be a Padi Instructor Examination (IE) over 3 days.

Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI) course Gili Islands

Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI)

If you are planning on becoming a PADI Instructor or PADI IDC Staff Instructor, you are also required to be an EFR Instructor. If you became a PADI Instructor before the pre-requisite was introduced or need to renew your certification, you probably already know that it is of great value to be an EFR Instructor. It will make you more employable and more able to teach Rescue and DM courses. Many dive instructors (including ourselves) have found it the “foot in the door” they needed in order to get a competitive PADI Dive Instructor job.

Oceans 5 dive resort offers regularly scheduled EFR Instructor courses as part of their PADI IDCs and can also offer them on request, one-on-one. Even if you are not doing your PADI IDC with them, why not think about doing this with them in advance to remove some of the stress and workload during the IDC?

Anyone can become EFR certified or an EFR Instructor, it is not even required to be a diver. These courses teach first aid and CPR skills that are valuable for everyone on the planet. As well as an adult First Aid and CPR Instructor you will become a Care for Children Instructor and will be able to teach infant and child CPR techniques.

Have completed a sanctioned course in adult CPR within the past 24 months
Have completed a sanctioned course in basic first aid within the past 24 months
